The construction of community centres in the regions is ongoing. On this occasion, the Minister of Justice – Tea Tsulukiani officially inaugurated the 50th community centre in the densely-populated city of Georgia – Pasanauri. The event was attended by a number of invited guests, including local residents and those from nearby villages.
The Minister congratulated the people from Pasanauri and invited guests on the occasion of the opening of the new community centre.
At the site of Pasanauri community centre, the former government building and a library had previously existed, but it was in poor condition and books were not properly stored. In its place, a modern library with state-of-the-art equipment has now been arranged in the newly opened Pasanauri Community Center. Along with new and electronic books, the old library’s collection has also been preserved. The Community Center is a prime example of successful collaboration between the public and private sectors. The opening of the center has provided residents of Pasanauri and surrounding villages with access to not only public services, but also the services of “Magti” and “Liberty Bank”. This will enable pensioners to receive their pensions without having to leave the village and young people to use wireless internet services for free. Prior to this, there were no banks or mobile operators’ office in Pasanauri.
The opening of a community center in the borough of Pasanauri will further enhance the tourist potential of the area, which remains significant at present. Round-the-clock connectivity with the outside world via a mobile network, affordable banking services, 24/7 wireless internet access and a free Skype room, in conjunction with local residents, will cater to the guests of Pasanauri and contribute to the continued growth of mountain tourism in the area.
The opening of the 50th community center became a true celebration for the attendees. The Pasanauri Center was decorated with special banners and helium balloons. The alleys of the community center as well as street lights were arranged and a relief map of the community centers and an information board featuring statistical data on their operations were installed. Following the official part of the event, a gala concert took place.
Approximately ten local residents are employed at the center. The Pasanauri Community Center serves up to 2 000 citizens residing in the village as well as 741 households from nearby villages (Tsinamkhari, Ukanamkhari, Daviturni, Veshagurni, Sodeve, Mejilaurni, Bantsuri, Tskhvedieti, Khevsha, Chikani, Chiriki, Tsinkobani, Chadistsikhe, Zemo Amirni and Tsipori). The Community Center is a shining example of successful collaboration between the public and private sectors, significantly saving time and money for local residents. More than 200 public and private services are available to residents of villages and boroughs.
One of the key features of the community centers of the Ministry of Justice is their tailored approach to meeting the needs of local populations. These centers provide a diverse range of services, including simplified processes, access to information technology and modern infrastructure. With the opening of Pasanauri Community Center, residents gained access to services previously only available through the Public Service Hall and other governmental agencies, such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Education and Science (for example, school certificates). Prior to the establishment of the community center, residents of the highland area faced difficulties accessing public and private services, hindering their ability to fully participate in society and benefit from available resources. In order to do so, they needed to travel to Dusheti, which is located a few kilometers outside the borough.
Throughout Georgia, the centers operate in eight regions and 35 municipalities. To date, 500 000 services have been provided at 50 community centers in various regions of Georgia. 2 000 events have taken place and 460 people have been employed.
In addition to Pasanauri, there are 49 other community centers that are already operating in Zeindari, Shashiani, Sartichala, Gomi, Ruisi, Chaladidi, Khevi, Manglisi, Koda, Poka, Nigoiti, Jvari, Shorapani, Kvareltskali, Mukhaestate, Geguti, Mejvriskhevi, Kachreti, Khidistavi, Nukriani, Korbouli, Goresha, Kazreti, Shilda, Orsantia, Kvemo Natanebi, Kabali, Lentekhi, Chakvi, Khreiti, Sadakhlo, Rukhi, Iormuganlo, Arkhiloskalo, Tkviavi, Vale, Berdzenauli, Usakhelo, Kitskhi, Lajana, Baraleti, Kumurdo, Tsalka, Kokhnari, Bakuriani, Tbilisi (Gldani) and Meore Sviri.
