The ODIHR commends the work of the Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice in clarifying the electoral registers

In connection with the upcoming presidential elections on October 28, the Election Observation Mission of the Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR EOM) published a report entitled “Preliminary Assessments and Conclusions”, which provided a positive assessment of the efforts made by the Ministry of Justice to clarify the electoral register.

“ODIHR” noted that governmental agencies had made significant efforts to clarify the electoral register and election commissions had provided voters with opportunities to verify their personal information. Most parties involved in the election process stated that they had no doubts about the accuracy of the electoral register.

Additionally, the report commended the actions taken by the Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice to improve and update the electoral register.

The report states that the efforts of the Public Service Development Agency aimed to remove the data of deceased individuals from the electoral registers and provide citizens, who had been deregistered or did not have a valid identification document, with the opportunity to obtain documents and take photos free of charge. However, the Observation Mission emphasizes that voters had numerous opportunities to verify the data on the electoral register and request corrections in case of inaccuracies.
