The Public Service Development Agency has created workplaces where probationers and individuals sentenced to socially useful labour can be employed

At the initiative of the Ministry of Justice, the Public Service Development Agency provides employment opportunities for beneficiaries of the National Agency for Enforcement of Non-custodial Sentences and Probation –  probationers and individuals sentenced to socially useful labour.

Soso Giorgadze –  Chairperson of the Public Service Development Agency and Tatia Khocholava – Director of the National Agency for Enforcement of Non-custodial Sentences and Probation had a meeting with probationers in the Agency to familiarize them with the working conditions.

Due to a lack of employment opportunities, individuals sentenced to socially useful labour often did not have possibility to serve their sentences as intended, despite their willingness to do so. The Public Service Development Agency has been actively involved in addressing the issue of employment for probationers, and in collaboration with the National Agency for Enforcement of Non-custodial Sentences and Probation, 30 individuals were selected for the first phase.

The Public Service Development Agency is currently engaged in the digitalization of civil stats acts, which is an important component of the effort to promote the reform of identity documentation. Beneficiaries will be involved in the digitization process.

It should be noted that socially useful labour is a type of non-custodial sentence imposed on convicted individuals by a court or local authorities of the specialized penitentiary system. It can be used as a primary or additional sentence.

Due to its high level of social responsibility, the Agency’s initiative makes a significant contribution to beneficiaries’ employment prospects, thereby facilitating their reintegration and re-entry into society.
