The 11th conference was held from June 4 and was traditionally opened by Tea Tsulukiani – Minister of Justice. In her address, the Minister emphasized the significance of new technologies in the day-to-day lives of the state and its citizens. As she noted, the successful implementation of significant reforms such as the development of electronic government, the operation of a unified platform for providing services to citizens (My.gov.ge), electronic returns’ submission systems, online auctions and procurement and electronic dissemination of public information would not have been feasible without the advancement of information technologies: “Without modern technologies, it would be impossible for an organization or country to function optimally. In the execution of any reform, a significant portion of the responsibility rests with the IT sector. The Ministry of Justice of Georgia is actively engaged in the development of electronic government. As a result of the efforts of the entities subjected to our ministry, namely the Data Exchange Agency, National Agency of Public Registry, Public Service Development Agency, and so-called “Smart Logic”, Georgia has achieved leading positions in various international rankings related to the development of e-services, including those published by the World Bank. The Minister of Justice also discussed the Public Service Halls and Community Centers, which provide public and private sector services at a high level throughout Georgia, even in small villages far from large cities and regional centers. This is due to the development of technologies. Georgia is leading in terms of ease of real estate registration and starting a business, with online business registration being an innovative service. According to the Minister of Justice, Georgia, as a modern country, should continue to develop services and other areas based on information technology. In this process, the importance of cyber security is immense. Nikoloz Gagnidze – Chairperson of the Data Exchange Agency emphasized the significance of the conference and noted that the development of information technologies is inconceivable without information security. Approximately 700 delegates from more than ten countries are attending the 11th regional conference, which is being organized by the Data Exchange Agency and the ICT Business Council.
