The Election Observation Mission (EOM) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has released a preliminary report on the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia, scheduled for October 31, 2020. The report focuses on the work of the Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice to improve the electoral register, which, like in previous years, has been positively assessed.
The Observation Mission notes that, in order to improve the databases, the Agency has implemented measures such as the use of a photo search system, the proactive removal of duplicate and deceased persons’ data from the database, the provision of free documentation for citizens and the receipt and updating of photos. According to the report, most participants in the meetings who interacted with representatives of the Observation Mission expressed general confidence in the accuracy of the electoral registers.
Representatives from the Election Observation Mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) held meetings with government officials, political party representatives, media, civil society and international organizations from August 3 to 8 this year to assess the pre-electoral situation.
