The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has recently published a report regarding the local self-government elections on October 2, 2021. The report focuses on the activities of LEPL Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia in relation to improving the electoral registers, which has received positive feedback as in previous years. According to the report, most parties involved in the election process expressed confidence in the accuracy of the electoral registers.
As the Observation Mission notes in the same document, the Public Service Development Agency is implementing a long-term project to specify and improve its database, which involves, among other things, eliminating duplicate and deceased persons’ data from the system.
To examine the pre-electoral situation, representatives from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Election Observation Mission met with representatives from governmental agencies, political parties, media organizations, civil society and international organizations this September.
