In 2022, for the first time in Georgia, a unified strategy for public services development has been developed and further approved by the government

The Minister of Justice, in his speech to Parliament, stated that, as part of an ongoing public administration reform process in the country, a unified strategy for public services development has been for the first time developed and further approved by the government in 2022.

„High-quality public services are a hallmark of the state, but we strive to further improve this achievement that Georgia has and seek to further enhance this achievement. We are not content with what has been accomplished thus far and are committed to continuing to strive for improvement. To this end, the state  has developed a new strategy for public services development that has been approved by the government. This strategy aims to introduce unified approaches to service provision, ensure the quality of services and evaluate service providers. The implementation of this strategy has already begun, with a number of measures having been taken since April 2022,“ – stated the Minister of Justice in Parliament.

As a result of the reforms, the provision of public services will be made even more convenient and accessible for citizens.

The aim of the public services development strategy is to establish new standards for the development, provision, quality assurance of customer-oriented services, as well as their evaluation.

The Public Service Development Agency, in collaboration with local and international experts, has developed training modules on the establishment, provision, quality assurance and evaluation of public services as outlined in the public services development strategy. Over 500 representatives from various government agencies that provide public services were trained on these issues.

LEPL of the Ministry of Justice – the Public Service Development Agency is in charge of developing a standard for simplified service provision.  This aspect of the reform initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Following the approval of the strategy by the government, the quality of public services in Georgia is expected to further improve through the implementation of unified approaches.
