“The commitment to take action to benefit the diaspora has been met” – Rati Bregadze

“This year, the fees for passports, identity cards and, generally, all services for diaspora members have been equalized. For instance, if previously a passport cost three times as much for diaspora representatives, today all Georgian citizens receive similar services at the same cost. I believe this is a project that will truly benefit the diaspora community and I am pleased to note that diaspora members have expressed satisfaction with this decision. When I visited Parliament last year, I committed to taking steps towards supporting diaspora communities. This commitment has been met.”, noted by the Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze in his speech during the Minister’s Hour in Parliament.

Starting from May 1s 2022, the fee of obtaining a biometric passport for Georgian citizens residing abroad has been significantly reduced.
