The Chairperson of the Public Service Development Agency briefed European colleagues on Georgia’s progress in addressing statelessness issues

The Chairperson of the Public Service Development Agency informed the participants of the event about the Georgian approach to documenting stateless individuals and a “Door-to-Door” campaign implemented in collaboration with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, which has led to a significant reduction in the number of stateless persons in Georgia.

At the task meeting, methods for preventing statelessness and addressing current challenges were discussed. Representatives from various countries shared their expertise and experience in promoting citizenship obtaining and the naturalization of stateless individuals with the event attendees.

A report on statelessness, prepared by EMN, was presented at a task meeting organized by the Council of Europe and EMN’s National Focal Point in Luxembourg.
