Implementation of “door-to-door” campaign

Implementation of “door-to-door” campaign

Proceeding from the voluntary obligation assumed by Georgia at the Executive Committee of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), “door-to-door” campaign was implemented throughout Georgia. The goal of the campaign was to issue identity documents to undocumented persons.

The Agency studied the data of 762 persons within the project, based on the applications of local self-government, social service agencies, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations and persons concerned. 43 persons were identified as a result. Relevant administrative proceedings were conducted (establishment of Georgian citizenship, establishment of the status of stateless person in Georgia) and identity document was issued to them free of charge. The facts of holding citizenship of Georgia or other country were revealed with regard to the remaining persons. Furthermore, informational campaign was conducted for raising public awareness about the challenges of statelessness.
