An adapted website of the Public Service Development Agency for blind and visually impaired people has been developed – voice.sba.gov.ge.
Starting today, information about news and services offered by the Agency will be available to blind and visually impaired individuals through an adapted web platform http://sda.gov.ge, which is operated by the Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice.
The launch of the new web platform was held on April 27 at the Public Service Development Agency. The event was attended by senior officials from the Agency, representatives of the EU and the UNDP, as well as representatives from the Union of Blind People, students from the 202nd Tbilisi School for Blind Children and authors of Georgian audio systems.
At the initiative of the Agency’s Innovative Services Laboratory, blind and visually impaired individuals will receive adapted information through voice-based communication. Through the integration of additional features, maximum applicants’ convenience is ensured – applicants can adjust both the background color and font size to suit their visual needs. It is also possible to adjust the speed of the voice function.
The site adaptation was carried out with financial support from the joint initiative “Human Rights for All”, funded by the European Union and the UNDP. Thanks to this support, the Agency acquired a Georgian-language voice system and web development services. The aim of the joint initiative of the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Georgia is to enhance the protection of human rights, in line with the priorities outlined in the country’s human rights strategy. Particular attention is given to safeguarding the rights and interests of vulnerable segments of society.
It is noteworthy that one of the key priorities of Georgia is to enhance the quality and accessibility of public services. This includes gradually ensuring equal access to essential services for individuals with disabilities, among other measures.
The Public Service Development Agency is continuing its efforts to identify the needs of people with disabilities and to further improve access to services for this group.
