In order to further enhance the electoral registers, the Public Service Development Agency is continuing its project “Improvement of Electoral Registers,” one component of which involves excluding data of deceased citizens from the register.

To identify “presumed deceased” individuals and update databases, the Agency conducts an annual review, as a result of which any individuals whose death has not been promptly reported to the Agency are identified and removed from the electoral register.

As part of this project, representatives from the Public Service Development Agency verified information about Georgian citizens who had died in occupied territories, in the city of Gali, with their relatives in Zugdidi and then compiled death acts.

This year, the Agency’s representatives visited 4 000 households across the country and collected records of death for 567 individuals.

It should be noted that between 2013 and the present day, data of more than 8 832 deceased individuals have been excluded from the electoral registers.

The project to update the electoral registers will continue until the end of 2020, with the goal of improving the quality of the Agency’s databases and transferring the most complete possible identification data on potential voters to the Central Election Commission.
