Ministry of Justice initiated free of charge replacement of non-electronic ID cards with electronic ID cards.
Based on the amendment to the Law of Georgia “On the procedure for registration of citizens of Georgia and aliens residing in Georgia, issuance of identity (residence) card and passport of a citizen of Georgia”, non-electronic (not having an electronic data carrier) ID cards issued before 28 July 2011 shall be annulled from 1 July 2024.
Ministry of Justice shall provide the holders of non-electronic (not having an electronic data carrier) ID cards with electronic ID cards free of charge from 15 March 2024.
You may apply to Public Service Halls and Mobile Public Service Halls throughout the country for replacing the non-electronic (not having an electronic data carrier) ID cards issued before 28 July 2011 with electronic ID cards free of charge.
