The ongoing project of the Public Service Development Agency aimed at digitalizing the material civil status acts ensures the improvement of the databases and the effective public service delivery, which is one of the components of Visa Liberalization Action Plan between Georgia and the European Union. The objectives of the project are as follows: the improvement of the databases of the Agency; facilitation of information security and personal data protection; issuance of reliable identification/travel documents and full digitalization of the civil status acts registered materially from 1939 through 2008.
Within the framework of the project, the material civil records of birth, marriage, divorce, death, establishment of paternity, change of given name and surname and adoption are entered into the electronic database and scanned.
10 000 000 civil status acts have already been digitalized.
