Ms Rusudan Kokhodze, the Chairperson of the Public Service Development Agency is participating in the UN-led International Migration Review Forum as a part of the government delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Justice Mr. Giorgi Dgebuadze.

The forum facilitates high-level discussions on safe, orderly and regular migration, and sharing experience among member states on the key focus areas such as enhancing migration governance and developing effective responses to global modern-day challenges. Additionally, the forum serves as a platform to review progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) within the context of international migration.

Ms. Kokhodze addressed the participants of the roundtable sessions of the Forum and talked about the pivotal role and the steady progress made by the Public Service Development Agency in the continuous process of improving migration governance.

The Agency hosts the Secretariat of the State Commission on Migration Issues, and by this, ensures a good inter-agency coordination based on the “whole-of-government” approach. The Chairperson provided an overview of the substantial steps taken by Georgia in recent years to strengthen the national migration management system, emphasizing the establishment of a modern, sustainable framework compatible with European standards.

Furthermore, Ms. Rusudan Kokhodze informed the delegates of the Forum about the work done by the Agency along with technological novelties in the field of data consolidation and analysis, being a key for ensuring the data-driven migration policy planning and implementation.

The International Migration Review Forum is convened every four years at the UN Headquarters in New York, organized by the President of the General Assembly and the United Nations Network on Migration.
