The Public Service Development Agency has provided the data of potential voters to the Central Election Commission

LEPL Public Service Development Agency operating under the Ministry of Justice transferred to the Central Election Commission (CEC) a database of potential voters derived from an electronic database. The list provided by the Agency to the CEC includes 3 540 609 potential voters.

Potential voters are adult citizens of Georgia who are eligible to vote, as well as individuals who have reached or will reach the age of 18 by October 2, 2021.

In accordance with the Electoral Code of Georgia, LEPL Public Service Development Agency operating under the Ministry of Justice is obligated to provide the CEC with data necessary for the compilation of the electoral register four times annually and, during the election cycle, upon request.

A biometric voter register with a photograph has been implemented in Georgia since 2014. This system ensures the principle of “one voter – one vote” by verifying the identity of voters. To date, there are 3 248 313 adult citizens (voters) in Georgia, with accurate data and biometric photographs in their records.

Since 2013, the Public Service Development Agency has been implementing a project titled “Electoral List Enhancement.” This project aims to eliminate gaps in the database, improve the quality of databases and transfer identification data of potential voters to the Central Election Commission in the most comprehensive form possible.

One of the objectives of the project is to remove data on deceased citizens from relevant lists. Due to the active work undertaken as part of the project to verify the accuracy of information on deaths of Georgian citizens over the past nine years, more than 11 500 deceased persons’ data were excluded from electoral registers.
