The Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice has received two awards at the 10th Anniversary Regional Conference-Competition on the Development of Cyber security and Information Technology in Georgia.
The 10th Annual Regional Conference was organized by the Data Exchange Agency and ICT Business Council, both operating within the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. The Public Service Development Agency was recognized as the winner in the categories of the Best IT Management and the Best Municipal Electronic Solution. The main focus of the conference was cyber security issues and trends in information technology development. Traditionally, the event began with a speech by the Minister of Justice – Tea Tsulukiani.
As the Minister of Justice has noted, the conference, established after the August 2008 war, has seen an increasing number of attendees each year. “Today, we welcomed a record number of participants from near and far-abroad countries. These individuals are professionals in their respective fields and present innovative projects in the areas of public administration, state-business relations, and the use of new technologies in citizen-government interactions,” the Minister stated. The Minister further explained that one of the key challenges they discussed was the issue of ensuring that new technologies become accessible not only in major cities but also in rural areas, including for children. This is precisely what their project of community centers aims to address.
The Cyber Security Conference, which has been held for the past ten years, has received international recognition as a leading event in the information and communications field. This year, it hosted a record number of attendees, bringing together approximately 600 participants from more than 30 countries. At the conference, special attention was given to the development of e-government in Georgia and the region, as well as information and cyber security initiatives and the process of implementing technological innovations within these projects. Due to the conference’s efforts, the quality of these innovative projects has improved year after year, ensuring citizens’ access to better electronic services.
The second day of the event was entirely dedicated to information security and cyber security matters. World-renowned experts delivered presentations on the subject of cyber security. Traditionally, the conference concluded on November 17 with an awards ceremony for the authors of the year’s best IT projects. This year, approximately 50 projects, both from the public and private sectors, were presented in 15 categories.
