The Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice has begun issuing new-generation electronic identity cards with an updated design. Their security is further enhanced with modern protective features and fully complies with the latest international standards, while the design is enriched with symbols reflecting national themes.
It should be noted that the fee for the identification document remains unchanged, and holders of valid ID cards are not required to replace them with the new version.
The updated electronic identity card contains the holder’s fingerprints. It also features a QR code; upon scanning, additional information can be accessed regarding the document number and status, the person’s registered address, and at the holder’s request, information regarding student status or status as a person with disabilities.
Interested persons can apply for the new ID card at the Territorial Services of the Public Service Development Agency, branches of the Public Service Hall, and Mobile Public Service Halls, as well as remotely via the Public Service Development Agency website: https://sda.gov.ge/
